Adam Lippes : Spring 2008 Fashion Show

Adam Lippes managed one of the most impossible things in the fashion industry: to combine comfort with beauty. Through his intricate pieces and unique fabrics, I find Adam Lippes one of the most accomplished designers for spring 2008. Not only does he deliver a very constant and extraordinary line, his prices reflect the time, effort and materials spent to craft every single garment. Another thing I thoroughly enjoyed was his 2008 spring fashion show that included one of my favorite songs : Sea Lion Woman by Feist. If you haven't heard her new album yet, make sure to take in the exuberance of this quirky indie artist.

This post is a little preview of Adam Lippes' stunning collections, in reference to my next post.

Warwick Avenue by Duffy

I adore this song, since it's filled with passion and has a very relaxed yet confident beat. Everytime I hear it, I have to sing it out loud, preferably on a rainy day like today.

The Green Fireplace

I’m not here to make a huge schpeal about being green, since I know many readers are already quite informed about this subject, but I came across this awesome idea: the candle fireplace. It also works for the old fireplaces, which are too dangerous to light up.
Here’s what you do: get a few different sized candles, about 6 to 10, put them in your fireplace, and voilĂ , your very own candle fireplace. It doesn’t offer the same kind of warmth a real fire would but it does offer the same amount of light, so you can enjoy your fireplace all year round.

Happy Half Christmukkah!

A tradition that has been going on for two years between my friend and I is the celebration of half chrismukkah. We both love it since it seems so silly to think about the winter in 20 degree heat. Even then, we still get out our christmas faves like Home Alone or Love Actually and exchange tiny homemade gifts.

Hope you guys had a good half Chrismukkah!!

I Love Lykke

I don't know much about Lykke Li... Just enough to tell you that she is a Swedish songstress with a style that vaguely reminds me of Edie Sedgwick. Her catchy songs are empowering yet make you feel very girly and ladylike. Just call her LadyLykke.

Harold and the Purple Crayon

Today's post on Black*Eiffel made me think of some of all my favorite children's books. I think my ultimate favorite must be Harold and the Purple Crayon, a cute little story about a boy who draws himself some wonderful adventures. It used to make my imagination go wild, and still does. I recommend it for anyone in need of inspiration. It's guaranteed to make you smile!

Kent Rogowski | Love=Love

Ken Rogowski's art is pretty fun to make, when you think about it. It consists of combining different puzzles (usually the same puzzle company uses tan identical format for each picture) and making it into a usually quite cacophonic work of art. I’m thinking I could spend a summer afternoon trying out my skills at puzzle combining, along with my little sister.

You can find his other works here.

Rankin

Rankin is the one behind all the amazing pictures of the stunning stars... I'm thinking of doing my own version of the picture above, but in a less modern photo booth!

Wear your music

Wear your music is an organisation that transforms artist's old guitar strings into bracelets. From John Mayer and Jack Johnson to Ben Harper, it's guranteed you'll find one of your fave signers. You can find them online (wearyourmusic.org), where you can also buy "fake" guitar string bracelets for about 10$. All in all I thought this project was a great idea, since part of the proceeds are donated to the MusiCares organisation.

Redhead Sweetheart

Kate Nash is amazing. And when I mean amazing I mean she’s an English redhead that’s never scared of saying what she thinks, and has the most beautiful way of saying it. She carefully entwines witty lyrics with inspiring keys on the piano and that is the reason I absolutely adore her.
(at the top is her music video called foundations)

Bonjour: Sartorialist-style

If you've come upon this (very) new blog, don't run away so quick! Soon it will be filled with inspiration like you've never seen.
But before, I thought it suitable to present myslef by using a few of the Sartorialist's usual questions:

* Most cherished item :

A vintage fedora I share with my father

* I never break this fashion rule :

Always wear underwear ?

* Shine your own shoes?

Always.

* Favorite fashion magazine?

Nylon

* I skimp when buying ...

Everything. except food. Thrifty is my way of life!

* I build my daily look around?
