She certainly does wear Prada ...

" Anna Wintour (born November 3, 1949, in London) is the editor-in-chief of American Vogue, a position she has held since 1988. She became interested in fashion as a teenager. Her father, Charles, editor of the Evening Standard, often consulted with her on how to make the newspaper's coverage relevant to the youth of mid-1960s London. After dropping out of school at 16, she began a career in fashion journalism. Her career took her across the Atlantic, with notable stints at New York and Home & Garden. She returned home for a tumultuous year to turn around British Vogue, and later assumed control of the franchise's magazine in New York. She revived a stagnant publication, a success that has earned her wide acclaim in the industry. "

Anna Wintour exudes confidence and beauty, and reportedly served as inspiration for Miranda's character  in the Devil wears Prada... She certainly does have the power and style to pull that role off !

Promise to keep me warm

As fall approaches, more and more fashion shows are coming out with the new looks for fall and winter 2008. Some are wearable, some are not, but instead of showing you what we can find on the runway I thought it more out of the ordinary to show you the people who watch the shows... In other words, the bold and daring eyes that get a first glimpse of the most sought after designers of the year; the first ones to dissect each show and take out of it these 12 amazing outfits.

Pictures found here.

It is safe to say that out of each outfit, we find either gray or black as the main colors. Bright colors are still present, but toned down and usually only used on one piece of clothing or accessory. Fur is also back in, on coats or as vests. The traditional over sized bag still works this season, I personally think we will never be able to go back to only carrying our necessities, but designers might beg to differ - one day !

Curly hair envy : How to use hair rollers

Top 5 things to know about hair rollers

1) Do NOT use on wet hair, you won't be able to get them out
2) The Sections of hair should not be wider than the roller itself
3) don't pull the rollers out once you are done, go vertical and unwind
4) The dirtier the hair, the more it tends to respond
5) If you're using hot rollers, by the time you finish putting in your last one, you go back to the first one and take it out

Enjoying the last days of summer...

Life

If someone came up to me and asked me the definition of life, I would get pretty elaborate !! That's why I love this incredible pie chart; give the credit to Ian over at a pretty sweet blog called " I always wanted to be a Tenenbaum ", which reminds me... I must see the movie!

William Klein

I was very busy this week participating in a photography workshop; taking pictures on a manual camera and developping each of them by hand is actually pretty hard, but the results are great ! Hopefully, I'll be scanning my prints as soon as possible, but until then I wanted to show you the works of William Klein, one of my favorite photographers.

This is my inspiration for the fall (yes I know, how sad it is that summer is leaving us already). I love everything about this outfit: from her red hair to her awesome dior-like boots!

Storage Idea

All the credit for this idea goes to Evan over at Door Sixteen for his amazing story and coincidentally, storage idea. I've got so many little collections lying around, and this year I made a resolution to at least de-clutter and organise. What better idea than combining these boxes with this cheap ikea bookcase ?. I'm so relieved to have finally found a happy medium between collecting and organising, I can finally feel less guilty for my nesting habits !!

p.s. encourage the little guy by finding a local store here .

Again thanks so much to Evan from Door Sixteen... You just saved me from going on one of TLC'S home makeovers !!

She's no Cinderella

Carla Bruni is a woman of all talents. And when I mean talents I mean this ex-supermodel turned singer turned president's wife has more than just beauty on her side. “She’s a kind of alpha female (...) she was more like a female Don Juan.” quotes Bernard Kouchner, a French foreign minister. Carla is no cinderella, born and raised with her two siblings into a wealthy family, it seems she was meant to become a woman of importance. Wherever she goes, whatever she does, people love her. From Karl Lagerfeld to George W. Bush, she seems to be picking up admirers all across the world, her biggest admirer being Sarkosy who states : “I am happy like nev-air.”

Can't you help but being a teeny weeny bit jealous? I know I can't. I mean, it's okay to have one talent, but she has them all. Not to mention the french president, whom I know could afford a dozen of those Tiffany bracelets and Jimmy Choos we've been dreaming about... So where is our rich and powerful prince charming?

Mermaids

Lately I've had quite an obsession for mermaids, so when I saw a podcast on Jean Paul Gaultier's spring 2008 collection, I started reconsidering my halloween costume. Not that I'm comparing his astonishing pieces to costumes, but the amount of inspiration that we can take from his collection is suprisingly refreshing. Long beautiful hair and plunging necklines completed the mysterious and precious look in the models eyes. Wow. I loved it.

Nobody does it like you do

Christian -
Nobody makes my heart flutter
like your shoes do
this is my declaration
to the love
of a shoe
I never knew
What toe cleavage
could do
before
YOU

Pourquoi pas?

I just found these beauties here for 70 percent off ! This leads to my conclusion : Ladies, please don't break your bank to buy hot shoes, just be a little patient and wait till they're on sale, you'll end up being really proud of yourself for finding such a deal.

I'm baaaaack !

Oh yes,

After three weeks I'm back at home, quite relieved to be in my own bed. It's funny, I perceive myself as a world traveler yet I like nothing more than staying in bed all day on Sunday and drinking hot tea. Of course, I've already started planning Christmas (my Halloween costume has already been crafted and will be mentioned around then, since I don't think anyone else but me likes thinking of fall), It's something to look forward to and daydream about until I get there. Although surprisingly enough I am trying to live in the moment by living the last of (sniff) summer. WHY, SUMMER? WHY LEAVE SO SOON? I do like fall and winter but my lack of vitamin D gets me nowhere and when it does start to be holiday-ish, normal life takes its course and ruins it all.

Could I be more sour?
